The opening of the HSBC Singapore Innovation Lab was the first of such a dedicated and strategic space for the bank in Asia Pacific.
Launched in 2015, the Lab focuses on driving and developing the next generation digital and mobile banking, based on needs of corporates with a particular focus on cash management, liquidity, trade and supply chain. Staffed with a team of business and technology experts, we partner with clients, technology firms, academia and the government to generate new ideas and concepts for prototyping. Cutting-edge client propositions will be put to trial through business simulations to derive practical insights into digital disruptions, and fine-tuned before being fully launched in the market. The lab continues to be a key incubator for HSBC’s world-wide innovation programme, leveraging our international reach and connectivity to accelerate and amplify the benefits and opportunities to our clients with international ambitions.

Session 1 - HSBC's Liquidity Management Portal and Cash Flow Forecasting

HSBC’s Liquidity Management Portal leverage our liquidity management and deposits propositions and enable our clients to innovatively engage with us for their cash and liquidity management activities via a single point of entry on HSBCnet.
HSBC’s Cash Flow Forecasting proposition will provide clients insight on their cash projections and enable them to make informed decisions on how to efficiently manage their liquidity.

Reimagining the Asset Ecosystem: Digital Assets & Channels
In this session, the Digital & Data team from Markets & Securities Services, HSBC Singapore, will be sharing on how enabling technology like blockchain and APIs can transform the end to end trade lifecycle.
More specifically, the team will be speaking on trends in capital markets, evolving financial market infrastructure and our initiatives in the digital assets space. The team will dive into the collaboration with SGX and Temasek Holdings to build a DLT-enabled platform that recently saw a first-in-Asia digital public bond issuance. The team will also showcase how River, a bot built on the Symphony platform and powered by APIs, delivers value to HSBC clients.

Cards End to End Digital Journey
In August 2020, HSBC launched a digital straight-through-banking credit card on-boarding experience for new customers leveraging MyInfo - a Government portal that enables citizens and residents to manage the use of their personal data for simpler online transactions. This is an astounding achievement as new customers with MyInfo access can now apply for a HSBC credit card, register for online banking and be ready to spend using a virtual card or Apple Pay within 5 minutes, all on the HSBC Singapore app.
It's a seamless digital journey end to end, from application to instant approval to immediate usage and even account servicing for our customers.

Evaluating Fairness in Artificial Intelligence & Data Analytics (AIDA) decisions for Customer Marketing
AIDA systems can be a source of immense benefits. When not governed appropriately, however, these can cause and perpetuate unintended harms and increase risks. MAS released FEAT principles as a guide to promote Fairness, Ethics, Accountability and Transparency in the use of AIDA by the financial sector. These were co-created with FIs and in phase 1 of the Veritas project, HSBC Singapore, in partnership with FMG, led the development of fairness evaluation methodology for Customer Marketing decisions. In this experience sharing interactive session, we will talk about the methodology creation process using a real use case. We will also share early lessons on our journey to deploy these measures globally and for all customer selection models. This interaction will be of interest to practitioners looking to operationalize governance of AIDA. It will be of semi-technical nature and while we will focus on fairness measures in particular, we will also touch on linkages with other significant governance dimensions – Transparency, Ethics and Accountability.
